Hosted by Jim Lauderdale (one of my favourite singer-songwriters) this awards show aired last night on our cable network for country music and videos, GAC (Great American Country). Winners (presented earlier in September...show was not live) include: Mary Gauthier for New/Emerging Artist, Buddy Miller for Album of the Year with his Universal United House of Prayer, Jerry Douglass for Instrumentalist of the year, John Prine for Entertainer of the Year and Buddy Miller (accepting in honor of deceased songwriter) for song of the Year with IWorry Too Much. Buddy has this on his House of Prayer cd and the video has been featured on Edge of Country (GAD). Guy Clark was presented with a lifetime achievement award. So much good music in one night--Lauderdale and Miller doing Lauderdale's Paint and Glass, Gauthier doing her wonderful song Mercy Now and an appropriate and touching ending with Arlo Guthrie leading everyone in his song, City of New Orleans! Wow, what a wonderful evening of music!

 I just sent GAC a thank you for promoting this type of music with the airing of the American Assoc awards show last night and with the daily broadcast of Edge of Country.

I hope you will do the same and encourage them to continue the growth towards more of this kind of music. http://www.gactv.com/feedback.html This is the link to their "contact us" page. We have to let these folks know that this type of music is appreciated and that there really is an audience or market out there.
