Got to see Maura in Northern New Jersey last friday night for one outstanding show. Rather than clog up the message board I posted my thoughts from the show on the Weblog portion. I may try to add it to Maura's MySpace but I am not sure MySpace works for someone in my age bracket.
The show as you can see from the blog was terrific. The CDs are fine, but nothing is better than a live show.
Thanks Maura.

I was in PA this weekend...so I got to see Maura in Philly....She put on a nice show.. The venue was also very nice. She mentioned a new album possibly by the end of the year. My fingers are crossed.
Hope eveyone is well. My computer is in the shop so I have not been able to check the boards as much.
See ya.

Great to see you back and lucky, as I was, to get to a show this weekend, I was very excited. Maura was superb.
Hope your computer problems get fixed in a hurry.

Hey, Bob Oldperson!
I'm 49 and I LOVE MySpace. I had the same feelings originally--bunch of teenagers acting inappropriately, stalkers...blah, blah, and some of that it so, but there's so much more.
I've made lots of interesting "friends" there and some of my "real" friends are on too, as well as my step-daughter and a couple of my nieces. It's a way of connecting with them too. I just love having Ms. MO on--she can post some top notch comments, too. Try it--it's great fun, especially for music lovers.

YES, Bob, you did it--joined MySpace. Now you're spreading the MO Gospel to a wider audience.

Mauras upcoming show in Irvington, NY is getting a few nice write-ups in the local newspaper. In last Thursdays local section, it was listed as a hot ticket and the paper said a few nice things about her. I hope that is an indication that the show will do well. I think the timing is great (the day before St. Pats is perfect timing).
Unfortunately, I have to work so I cannot see the show. However, I dont feel too bad since I saw her last month in PA.
If anyone is going to the show, have a great time!..

Well, I hope Maura's show is not too much of a bust tonight (in Irvington, NY). The weather here is absolutely awful!! It is snowing and hailing and I am sure that there would not be too many brave souls that would make the trek. Hopefully, I am wrong and the show goes well.

Actually, the venue cancelled the show.
Maura is watching HBO or something similar.
You Yankees are so funny with your springrime snowstorms! I guess global warming is relative!

The Irvington show has been rescheduled for June 17.
The production company, Westco, actually called me at home to say tonight's show was cancelled and provide the new date.
Now that's customer service.

Well, that is actually pretty nice of the company (to call people and cancel). I think Maura would have been playing to a crowd of about 3 people. The weather was horrible yesterday. I actually don't think I will make the trip to the New York parade. It is just too cold!! I figure the streets will be a mess to stand around in.
June 17th should be good. I might even take my 8 year old son. He always sings along when I play "Spinning Wheel" and "Love you in the Middle," among other songs!
I hope Maura enjoyed the night off and HBO (or whatever), I could not find a blessed thing on t.v. last night.

Thank you for a great evening to end St. Patrick's w/end-you belted out your songs with such sweet abondon! I last saw you with DeDannan and I have missed so much. Thank you for Danny Boy and especially the first verse as gaelige- I could listen to you singing Love, Love, Sweet Love over and over!
From one of your two Irish people in the audience. I am grateful to my friends for bringing me and for having front row seats! You also have three very talented musicians to accompany you.
A re-connected fan-The best to you always Paula

Hi, I'm new here, although I have looked through the boards a few times. I saw Maura last night in State College, along with Paula apparently, and was delighted. It was a different show than the one I saw at the Birchmere in Virginia in January, but wonderful. The crowd was small; we're a university community and everyone was just getting home from spring break.
That actually raises the question I wanted to propose: Have people noticed a decline in the number of folks turning out for Irish folk music? I was surprised by the size of the crowd last time I saw Mary Black. I was also surprised by how few people were present when I saw the Women's Heart show in Philly in '05. On the other hand, the crowds really turn out for Cherish the Ladies. I wonder if people have thoughts on how the market for this music is evolving and what it means for the future?
Thanks, Sandy

I am not sure Sandy...The only thing I can add is that when I saw the Woman's Heart tour in Nov of '05 (I think that was the date), it was a full house. I was impressed with those how big the crowd was.
I think that maybe it depends on where the concert is and the promotion. I have seen Maura a couple of other times in Albany and it was fairly packed. I once saw her in New York City and the place was empty (it did not seem to be promoted very well. I almost did not know it was on and I check the boards daily!). You would think it would be the other way around...
In otherwords, I have no idea... I am glad you liked the show though...
