Just wondering what everyone else is listening to these days. I recently purchased the new Heather Myles Cd and the new Buddy Miller cd. I have always like Buddy and Julie Miller and his new Cd is very good. Heather Myles is someone that is new to me. I bought it on the strength of the reviews. It is a great Cd!!! I really am enjoying it quite a bit. For those of you that like more traditional country music, this would be a great addition to your collection.
What are some things that everyone else is listening to?

A lot of my favorite artists are planning to release new albums this spring, so I'm listening to a lot of "old favorites." Some newer music I've been listening to include music by The Waifs, Nerissa & Katryna Nields, John Gorka, Cadence Carroll, Kris Delmhorst, Erin McKeown, Lucy Kaplansky and Eddie From Ohio. I've also been listening to 6 (of the 11) songs from Dar Williams' upcoming cd. Her management posted the link through her website, so it's officially sactioned. I'll post a link to these songs if anyone's interested (and if it's not against the rules, Mac).

Hi Theresa:
Please, post all the links you want. This message board supports HTML, so it should be a clickable link if you include the entire url.
We don't have a lot of rules. No bad language, no meanness; heck, we even allow banjo solos.
I'm glad to see a few folks signing up. Please let me know if you have any questions, etc.
As to this thread's actual topic, I think Maura is going to contribute her recent listening list; are you there, Maura?

Been listening to the girls whine about starting back to school. Other than that, I've been listening mostly to classical stuff with some old Billy Joel thrown in to keep me somewhat sane.

Hi , and a happy New Year to you all.
Right now in my cd player are, Diana Krall"Live in Paris" The Dixie Chicks
'Drive" and Annie Lennox"Diva". I love them all. Also nearby are the new Alison Kraus 'Live" and a lady who is going to be huge in the next few months, I'm sure all you muso's have heard the wonderful "Come away with me" by Norah Jones. I bought it about 5 or 6 months ago and it rarely left the stereo in my car(which is where I do most of my listening!)
I've also been listening to Jerry Douglas's "Lookout for Hope" despite the fact that I sing a song on it! It's just that it's that good and James Taylor sings a really beautiful poignant song at the very end.
That's pretty much it right now, I'll ley ye know if I find something new that really gets me.

The soundtrack to Gangs, but I must admit that my daughters are giving me a hard time on this one.
Tom Waits, Gin Blossoms and Lifehouse, due to my wife's interest in the last two.
And of course Van's Down the Road! Laura and I can never get enough Van, just like I can never get enough Maura, and throw John Gorka in that category too!

Today, I just picked up the new Sinead O'Conner album...While I think she is a bit of a loon (as far as her personal life goes), I think she is a great interpreter of music. (Does that sound like anyone else we know?) That includes covers and her own songs. Anyway, this album reminds me of Maura's Wandering Home. It is an album of traditional Irish songs and it really floored me the first time I listened to it. It is really good.
For those of you that mentioned Alison Krauss...I have to pick the new live album up. Her voice is heavenly. Dar Williams is another one that I really like...
Anyhow....I was just remembering the time, a few years ago, when Sinead told reporters that she was a lesbian priest...Shes married to a man now.... She is an interesting character...

Vienna Teng "Waking Hour" www.viennateng.com Click on Music to download a few MP3s from her site for a sampling. I bought the CD after hearing her on David Letterman. She is pretty amazing. "Lullabye for a Stormy Night" is lovely. Beautiful vocals and piano.
James Taylor "October Road"
Also just got tickets to see him this summer! I'm very excited. 14th row!
And an old favorite: Mare Winningham "What Might Be"
Yes the actress. This particular CD is out of print but you might be able to find it in a used shop.
