Not to take the spotlight off all the well-deserved kudos for recent shows and "Don't I Know" in general, but I wanted to take a moment to praise "Tales from Old Ireland" which showcases Maura's storytelling talents.

I came across it quite unexpectedly as I was surfing for Irish fairy tales I thought my kids (6&4) might enjoy.

It's a double CD with Maura narrating 8 different tales(about 85 minutes total). The stories, as you might expect, are filled with princesses, evil step mothers, swans, and of course, fairies.

Maura's storytelling is as warm and expressive as her singing, and my kids sit in rapt attention, holding on to every word(as do my wife and I).
I know it will make our upcoming 5-our trip to Cape Cod much more enjoyable for all concerned. (a thousand thank yous for that).

I highly recommend it for anyone with kids (probably 5-10). Wonderful stories, well told.

It's available through Barefoot Books or Amazon(cheaper).

Don't know if you can make it available on this site, but I think it would make a great addition.

Yes, we are about to place an order for some of those; it's a great book and CD, too. The book was done by Malachy Doyle, and Maura read the stories.

One more embarassment for the webmaster  that it's not already for sales here.

This is available in "The Store" on this web site. I have been meaning to purchase it at some point. I do try to expose my son to his Irish Heritage as much as possible.

A few years ago, I bought him a book called "Cuchulainn." I think that is how you spell it. It is an Irish folk tale. We really enjoyed reading it.

Details...details.... where did you go? I am jealous... Did you visit family, or go sight seeing?

I have been thinking about a visit. I would love to go soon... I miss it a great deal! I have many fond memories of spending a lot of my summers there when I was a kid...

Hope you had a great time.

I purchased this a few months ago, but only recently listened. I enjoyed it immensely while on a long road trip. I used to say that if Maura released a CD of her reading her grocery list, that I would buy it. I'm a sucker for the accent. The stories are excellent and the narration is just a perfect fit. I guess most people are buying it for their kids, but I'm 45 and childless and still loved it.

And I'll see you Saturday, for the Long Players show, Maura. And Mac, if you are there. I'll be the significantly obese bearded guy with a hat (not a cap). The wife is going to try to introduce me to Bill Lloyd, as they are old friends.

I had a wonderful time! This was my very first trip to Eire, though not to Europe. I stayed in Counties Dublin and Wicklow and just explored everything. That's what I like to do best, just select a small area and live there for a while.

Ireland is so beautiful....it really does look just like all the calendar pictures. I have a dear friend who lives there, and we explored everything from Howth to Bray, then spent a weekend in County Wicklow. We hiked, took pictures, explored museums and gardens, went shopping, watched the sailboats, explored tombs, did some painting on site. I loved every minute of being there and hope I can go again.

Next time, we'll try to explore another section of Ireland, maybe the south or west.

The Wicklows mountains, if I am not mistaken... are breathtaking. I really enjoyed seem them four years ago when I went.... I thought Bray was also very pretty. Being right on the water was really beautiful, if not a tad bit commercial.

Glad you had a great time. I am jealous.
